- 1). Click "File" in the upper left corner of Photoshop and click "Open." Navigate the file browser to your image and click on it, then click the "Open" button.
- 2). Click on the "Image" menu and select "Adjustments," then "Desaturate." This will make the image black and white to prepare it as a brush shape. In the same "Adjustments" menu, choose "Auto Contrast" to improve the clarity of the darks and highlights.
- 3). Go to the "Select" menu and choose "All." In the "Edit" menu, choose "Define Brush Preset."
- 4). Click the "Window" menu and then "Brush Presets." This will show the Brush Presets Palette. Scroll to the bottom of the palette to find your new brush. Click it's icon to use it.
