- Contact your state's Secretary of State office to determine which permits and licenses, if any, you need to start a party promotion business. Also, register a business name if you plan to do business using a name other than your own.
- Party promotion relies heavily on who you know. Build a rapport with a few different clubs. Offer to host a party on their down nights in hopes of getting a better deal and drawing in more clients for them. Get to know DJs who can handle music at your events. Find reliable party rental places.
- Create marketing material. Get business cards made so you can hand them out when networking. Create fliers about your company. Use social media such as Facebook and Twitter to promote your efforts online and keep potential guests updated on upcoming parties.
- Ask family and friends for referrals of people needing assistance with planning a party. Once you get a client or two and have planned a few events, you can use them as referrals for other potential clients.
- Arrive early at events to handle last-minute details and set up decorations. Greet guests. They may need your services in the future. Promote upcoming events you may be hosting.
