- During winter, the child won't have a lot of time to make money, with the exception of his winter break and weekends. If the child lives in an area that receives a lot of snow, he can make money shoveling or scraping snow. If she is good with a pair of hair clippers, she can also cut hair to keep a steady cash flow. If she is responsible enough, babysitting and pet-sitting are job options.
- During the spring when flowers are blooming, the 13-year-old can make money watering flower gardens. If he knows of neighbors who need help with spring cleaning, that is also another option. Be sure that the child only helps neighbors you know and trust, especially if the cleaning will be done inside the home.
- When a 13-year-old is out of school for the summer, there are plenty of ways for her to make money. For starters, some states allow 13-year-olds to work summer jobs. The child must obtain a work permit. If the child has a marketable look, she can also work as an extra on movie sets. Other summer jobs include cutting lawns, setting up a lemonade stand, washing cars, walking the neighbor's pet and a newspaper route.
- During the fall, the 13-year-old can make money by raking and bagging leaves. If he lives in an area with many acorn or pecan trees, he can also bag the acorns and pecans. He can then sell them at a pecan factory. Other local companies, such as seed and plant nurseries, may also purchase the nuts.
