- 1). Measure along the front edge of the counter. Transfer the measurement to a piece of trim, with two pencil marks on the top edge and the measured distance between them.
- 2). Set the trim on a miter saw, positioned as it will be on the edge of the counter, standing on its thin bottom edge with the back side of the trim up against the back rail of the saw. Slide the trim so one of the marks is in front of the blade.
- 3). Swivel the blade according to the angle you need at that end. If the end is going into an inside corner to meet another trim piece, swivel it 45 degrees inward (toward the middle of the trim). If it's meeting another piece of trim at an outside corner, swivel it 45 degrees outward. If it's butting to a wall and ending there, set the blade at 90 degrees straight across. Make the cut.
- 4). Move the trim so the second mark is in front of the blade. Swivel the blade to the required angle as before. Make the cut.
- 5). Set the trim against the edge of the counter, lining up the top. Secure it there by shooting headless trim-pins with your pin nailer every 8 inches or so along the upper and lower edges of the trim.
- 6). Repeat for each edge of the counter. Fit the mitered ends of the trim together at the inside and outside corners as needed.
