- 1). Open the garage door to provide ventilation.
- 2). Remove oil from the garage floor, using a water-based degreaser and a coarse brush. Clean the concrete floor, using a pressure washer.
- 3). Examine the directions on the muriatic-acid-etching kit you purchased. Don the acid-resistant gloves, rubber boots, splash-guard goggles, respirator and vinyl-coated overalls. Etch the garage floor according to the specifications included with the etching kit. Wait two to four hours for the garage floor to dry.
- 4). Mix the epoxy resin with the catalyst in a 5 gallon bucket. Stir the contents with a wooden stir stick for five minutes.
- 5). Coat the etched garage floor with epoxy paint, using the roller. Attach the roller frame to an extension pole for easier application. Wait six hours before walking on the finished floor.
