In this age of consumer driven solutions we tend to quicklly purchase the next and newest product that comes along.
This applies to all facets of our lives as well as Skin Care solutions.
Everything from mole removal to wrinkle remover is available.
And it's available on line, off line, Mary Kay, Avon and Walmart.
What I hope to do here is separate and identify things you can do that will make these topical treatments work better.
And, it might even save you some money because most of these suggestions are free.
1.
First and foremost STOP SMOKING NOW.
I am not asking you to do something I haven't done.
I smoked for a lot of years yet in 1987 I told myself "I have smoked enough".
Think for a moment what tobacco smoke does to the inside of your body.
How it elevates blood pressure and destroys the lungs.
Then consider you skin.
Most of the time I smoked it was in a car, room or building.
So the resultant smoke was deposited on my exposed skin.
Most likely my face and hands.
Smoke is not just plain air it contains various chemicals that cause skin disorders.
2.
Secondly, what are you eating.
Your diet plays a very important role in the health of your skin.
You are what you eat.
Plain and simple.
Sweets of any kind are sugars or can be converted easily into sugars.
White flour products, Sodas each of these product convert or are already sugar.
Not only does eating these products cause elevated or depressed emotional swings they are vital in the health of your skin.
Your skin is a living organism.
It is reacted upon by what it is fed.
So, for a more healthy looking skin start to cut down on the junk snacks high sugar foods and start switching to a diet high in whole grains, vegetables and lean meats.
There are also a few vitamin "supplements" that you can take to add to the health of your skin.
But, that's all they are is supplements.
3.
As far as Skin Care - Total skin care, it take EXERCISE! Topical solutions treat topically but if you are looking for preventive as well as future health of your skin you need to do more.
If you are looking for that bright, clear skin you need to move to new blood through those skn cells.
And, that takes some cardio-vascular effort.
To start moving that blood and the nutrients it is carrying to the cells in the skin you need to get the heart pumping.
I am not talking about doing a Marathon.
You know better than anyone your physical level.
Start with what you have.
Don't wait until you are perfect physical specimen to start your exercise program.
You know what, you'll never start.
Start slow and work into and up to a place where you heart is working some and some perspiration starts.
I won't go into recommending an exercise program here.
There are many good ones out there.
So, talk with your doctor, join the Y, DO SOMETHING.
Just keep in mind that Total Skin Care is more than putting on some lotions or creams.
Eating right and getting good nights sleep plus some exercise will go a long way towards rejuvenating and maintaining that beautiful skin everyone desires.
