Singapore is a small city.
This is why the buildings are all high-rise buildings.
In a tiny area of 693 sq km holds a population of 5.
076 million people.
To house the 5.
076 million people, the government has 1.
119 mill HDB flats located around the island.
HDB or Housing Development Board flats are flats built by the government that are sold to the public at a subsidized cost.
However, with the growing population and the limited land space, simple economical rules of supply and demands means that the cost of buying a flat has risen over the years.
This has became and issue for the government to tackle as the ruling part, the PAP, seeks for a election this year.
A few trade has unexpectedly profited from this issue.
Among them are: 1.
Real Estate Agents Real estate agents live on commission.
With a lack of land space, the cost of living in Singapore is set to rise.
This includes the cost of real estates and this is a major plus factor for any real estate agent.
This is because, higher the price of flats and the more in demand they are, the more real estate agents are able to earn.
However, this also means that real estate agent may turn to schemes that do not benefit the consumer to increase their income.
As such, the income of an agent has been under intense scrutiny lately and the government of Singapore has launched policy to prevent agents from abusing the market demand for housing to boost their income.
2.
Plumber The Singapore plumber has certainly benefited from the increase in household.
All the household in Singapore have a decent plumbing system.
Most HDB flats in Singapore comes with at least 2 toilet.
As such with more houses being built, the market of the plumber has been expanding.
An additional point to note about the plumber trade in Singapore is the fact that the workforce in Singapore are mostly educated.
As such, it is hard for plumbing companies to hire plumbers in Singapore.
This has contributed to a lack of service provider compared to the demands for a plumber.
As such the cost of hiring a plumber has been increasing in recent years.
3.
Locksmith Another market that is expanding is the Singapore locksmith market.
The increase in household itself has expanded the market.
Add to that the increasing population would mean more vehicles on the road.
The locksmith as such has another market to profit from in the long run.
