- "Monster Rancher" was released for the Playstation in 1998, and though it was not the most popular of games, it was considered to be a great video game by fans and critics. The goal of the game is to raise monsters that you create by having your Playstation read the code off of any CD. You must train the monster, controlling its diet and what statistics are raised so that you can fight it against other monsters in the ring.
Listed below are some cheats and hints to get higher stats, stronger monsters and an overall better game. - In order to get a ghost monster you have to do something you would normally avoid in the game--you have to let your monster die. Make sure that the monster has an evil origin, as this will make it more likely to happen. Get your monster to Class C, then kill it. After that, get a new monster (that has not been frozen) and enter the FIMBA Tournament. At the end of the tournament choose what to feed him. If the character Holly is frightened that means that the monster has been cursed. This has a random chance of happening, so you can try again by resetting your Playstation without saving and trying again. You must then combine the monster with any other monster, and you will have a ghost.
- First, you must get a monster up to B Class. Then, in the fourth week of April, enter the Trial Cup, where you will fight a dragon. If you defeat the dragon and get up to A Class, you will be invited to the August Invitational in the fourth week of August. Defeat the black dragon, and you will receive a dragon tusk. You must then breed a Dino-Naga and Naga-Dino with the Dragon Tusk, and you will end up with a Dragon Monster.
- In order to be truly effective with your monster while fighting, it must have a high loyalty level. Luckily there is an easy way to increase the level. Take your monster back and forth between the Town and the Ranch, and check his data at each stop. This should bring up your monster's loyalty by five every time you get back to the Ranch. This method also has the benefit of making your monster less spoiled.
- There are some hidden prizes to be found in the game that, while they don't improve any statistics or get you a more powerful monster, are still fun.
After you breed an Ape monster, put in a copy of Billy Joel's Greatest Hits; this will get you a pair of shades. There is also a hidden song on the game disc. Simply put Monster Rancher in a CD player and skip to Track 2 in order to hear a techno song.
