- 1). Reboot the computer. This is the simplest fix for problems that occur when the drivers crash. If the drivers crash, your monitor graphics do not show up properly. A reboot sometimes fixes a graphics issue from crashed files.
- 2). Reinstall the graphics drivers. The Toshiba laptop comes with a CD that contains the drivers for all of your hardware. Insert the CD in the computer. Click the Windows "Start" button and type "device manager" in the search text box. Press "Enter" to open Device Manager. Right-click your graphics card and select "Delete." Click the "Refresh" button at the top, and the drivers reinstall.
- 3). Download and install the latest Windows patches. Click the Windows "Start" button and type "windows update" in the search text box. Click "Check for Updates," then click "Install Updates." This installation patches any Windows operating system issues with your hardware.
- 4). Connect an external monitor to the laptop's VGA port. This tests if the problem is with the software or if the laptop's monitor is faulty. If the external monitor works properly, you must replace the LCD monitor on the laptop.
