10 Ways on How to Become an Indispensable Nanny

One of the ways that will determine if you are a reliable nanny is when your employer finds you indispensable.
It means that they cannot do without you and they will do every possible ways to keep you with them.
But, do you know how to become one of the most reliable nannies? If not, read the rest of the article to know how to become one.
  1. Be always on time.
    Whether you are a live-in nanny or a live-out one, being on top of your schedule is a must.
    Your employer have other things to do and the reason schedules were implemented so that both of you can achieve tasks during the day.
  2. Liar Liar was a movie and not about you; so, do not attempt to tell a lie or hide something from your employer.
    For example, do not call in sick when the truth is your boyfriend wants to spend an important day with you.
    The right thing to do is schedule that day with your boyfriend and ask a day off from your employer and offer something for them as a leverage; for example, an extra babysitting overnight in the future.
    Lying will cost you so much; many have tried the phone in sick method and were caught by their employers hanging around.
  3. Give your best shot always.
    Do not count your responsibilities.
    For example, washing the kitchen sink might not be your job (it's the housekeeper's) but it doesn't mean that you just leave your plate, spoon, and fork in the sink after eating your lunch.
  4. Have a positive outlook.
    Parents, like any other employers prefer to hear words "I will do it" rather than "I think I can try.
    " Do not forget your Doris Day smile all throughout the day.
  5. Communicate and anticipate.
    It simply means that if you have suggestions, relay it to your employer.
  6. Do not gossip.
    You are paid to perform nanny activities inside your employer's house.
    Thus, refrain from gossiping as if you were an embed worker from the tabloids.
  7. Offer help if you can.
    Being a parent is very stressful; thus, the reason you were hired as a nanny so you can share your time attending to their kids.
    You can be more indispensable if you also offer other services which are not part of your job.
    For example, your employer might feel wonderful if he or she smells lime scent in the kitchen instead of garbage; throw them when you have time.
  8. Globalization is in but it doesn't' mean you are free to interfere.
    You have to respect boundaries.
    Unless, your employer asks your opinion, your assistance, your listening ear, acting as referee in marital quarrel is not part of your job.
  9. You can still help even if it is not your job.
    You can preserve your job well if you find that quarrelling with your employer over simple matters like walking the dog is stressful for both of you.
  10. Attitude can make you go nowhere.
    A negative attitude can make you go nowhere but a positive outlook can take so anywhere.
If you can do all these things, then you are on your way to become one of the best nannies in the country.
