The internet is filled with ads for free horse racing picks and free systems to pick winners.
With all the winners being given away, it's a wonder that anybody bothers to handicap anymore.
It is definitely a beautiful world.
Years ago we all had to handicap the races and eke out a profit as best we could but now, there are lots of friendly people who are willing to help us out of the goodness of our hearts.
If you are looking for those freebies I would like you to think about what they are really worth.
First of all, do you really think that anyone is giving them away? If they are being offered to anyone who will enter their email address, what are they worth.
I'll tell you.
Nothing.
That's exactly what they are worth.
Years ago these same kinds of people used to work the crowd at the race track.
They would tell a stranger that they had the winner in the next race and then give the stranger one of the horses.
Next they would move on to another stranger and pull the same stunt but with another horse.
By the end of the race, some of their picks had come in and they looked like geniuses to the lucky winners who would then proceed to pay them for more winners.
There are reputable handicappers who will let you try a free system that is a stripped down version of their own system, in order for you to sample their work.
But don't expect to make a living off free picks, free systems, or free anything.
You and I both know the world doesn't work that way.
The truth of the matter is that making a profit at the horse races is very difficult.
NO one can guarantee it and if they do, they are a liar.
Remember, you're hearing this from a man who sells handicapping systems.
I even offer a free one, but I don't make outlandish claims about it.
It is simply a stripped down version of a much more complicated one.
I also don't guarantee you'll make money because no one can do that.
I do guarantee that you can return anything you don't like.
The benefit of a horse racing system, a good one that is, is that they teach you how to handicap in a new way or show you things you hadn't thought of.
A new approach to picking winners with a few new wrinkles is a realistic goal.
Automatically picking winners is not.
So what are free picks and systems worth? Exactly what you pay for them, but wait a minute, if you risk real money betting on those picks, they may be more expensive than you thought.
