The fourth of July is one of the biggest party days in the Unites States.
It is the day that the Declaration of Independence was signed many years ago, marking the birthday of the United States.
Some people look at the fourth of July like just another day off.
It should be much more than a day to watch fireworks and to have a party with family and friends.
It is not just another vacation day.
It is a day for Americans to remember the freedom we gained from English rule.
The fourth of July is an important day in American history.
It is the day we should remember all of the rights and freedoms we have as Americans and enjoy them.
Keep in mind, many people sacrificed their own life and freedom for America to maintain its independence.
On the United State's birthday, Americans should take time to remember those who made those sacrifices.
There were fifty-six men who signed the declaration of independence.
Five signers were captured by the British and tortured before they died.
Twelve went home to find their dwellings ransacked and burned.
Nine fought and died from wounds or hardships of the war.
That is almost half the men who signed the United State's greatest symbol of freedom.
However, they still signed the document and they knew that by doing so it would be considered treason and that treason came with a punishment of death.
While you are enjoying the fourth of July fireworks, you may want to keep in mind that it means more than just a time for picnics and fun, but it is a time to remember all of those who sacrificed their own life in order to ensure freedom for the future generations.
Enjoy the parties you will attend for the fourth, but always be thankful for the freedoms you are privileged to have.
