I Can Sell Whatever I Want On eBay - Think Again!

In a perfect world, people of all ages could purchase whatever they want.
Unfortunately, this isn't a perfect world; it's eBay world.
Even though eBay is headquartered in California and you're not, that doesn't mean you can ignore the laws which govern eBay.
Not only are you responsible for obeying the applicable California laws, but as a seller, you are also responsible for following the laws of your home state and the laws of the states to which you send your products.
By reading the eBayer User Agreement, eBayers can learn about the rules and regulations regarding what can and cannot be sold as eBay business procedures.
You can access this information in the eBay user agreement.
Until then, here are a few things that you are most definitely not allowed to sell on eBay.
* Why alcohol of course.
You could be selling liquor and beer to 8 year old Timmy without thinking about it.
* Animals.
Who buys animals online and waits to have them shipped? Not only is stupid, but it's also illegal.
* Credit cards.
Must I really retype the word "stupid"? If you try and sell credit cards on eBay, you deserve to go to jail, especially if you're dense enough to try and sell credit cards that aren't yours.
What are you thinking? Are you auditioning for America's dumbest criminals? * Illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia.
I know you've changed your lifestyle and everything, but don't try and sell your bong on eBay or your left over "puff, puff".
Some things just need to be thrown away.
* Human body parts.
Unless they're being used for educational purposes like in a classroom, then they cannot be sold.
There are places for people who collect body parts just for the fun of it, but none of those places are called eBay.
Can we say - mental institutions? * Government IDs.
Although there are many terrorist out there seeking fake government badges, remember there are also lots and lots of government agencies (like Homeland Security who tortures first and asks for ID later) who are constantly searching for people who sell fake government IDs.
* Prescription Drugs.
These can only legally be purchased through a licensed pharmacy and then only with a valid prescription.
You're a businessperson.
You don't want to sell drugs to a customer and then have that person drop dead.
You're literally killing your chance for repeat business.
* Stolen property.
If it's not legally yours, then you shouldn't be selling it.
It's just that simple.
There are many more things that you cannot sell on eBay.
Please stay current with eBay's rules and regulations to make sure that you are not violating any laws and putting yourself at risk of prosecution.
Here's a simple key that many people use when deciding what can be sold on eBay - "When in doubt, don't sell.
