- 1). Have teachers individually identify financial needs in their classroom or within the school. This ensures all levels are accounted for.
- 2). Ask teachers to propose ideas for financial projects that the school can do to raise funds separately, from school tuition or federal funding.
- 3). Divide all teachers into small groups of four or five. Have each group review several teachers' financial plans and write down their findings. They should be able to figure out what teachers from this group most need money for, and which financial concerns are most pressing. Do not give each group a copy of every teacher's sheet. The purpose of dividing into small groups is so that a small portion of the teacher's proposals are read by each group, giving each due respect and time.
- 4). Ask groups to present their findings to the rest of the faculty. As this is done, one person will record the data, figuring out what financial needs are most pressing to all groups and which are most dire. They will also write down suggestions for raising money that were presented to the group.
- 5). Create a time line for remedying the most pressing situations. For instance, if money for books is the primary concern for all teachers, set a tentative date at the beginning of the year to raise money. Forming committees around each issue lessens the burden of planning all of the events.
- 6). Figure out holes in your plans and discuss other financial needs that were not addressed. Discuss what can be done without and what, if anything is still needed. Make a plan to regroup at a later date. Solutions may be available, such as applying for grants from the government or private institutions.
