The difference between what we do and what we are capable of doing would suffice to solve most of the world's problems. Successful people are not born; they are built by will and power to reach the top. These are some of the quotes you might read about doing your best when it comes to your study or work. For this, both students and professional always need to put on their best in what they do to be sure that they reach the top.
However, studies show that most medical students and professionals are becoming more focus and diligent when they wear white lab coats during classes or work. This research is done under the supervision of Professor Adam Galinsky of Kellogg Management & Organization at Northwestern University. He was inspired to make the research while watching a certain movie that reflects on how the students react when they are mandated to wear their boring school uniform.
To establish a certain point that an individual can have a sharp alertness, most especially medical people who wears lab coats, an experiment is conducted in three sets. The first set allows random students to wear they casual wear while others use their lab uniforms. Second set allows everyone to wear a doctor's lab dresses but others are told that they are using regular coats worn by painters and butchers. The last sets of experiment prevent others to wear those uniforms but are placed in front of their desks.
After a dreaded computation (just making more emphasis about it), numbers says it all. The study which is called €enclothed cognition€ shows that wearing a doctor's lab coat heightened both physical and mind alertness to details. However, this does not mean that all doctors wearing their lab uniforms are more focus than others as alertness can be affected by number of factors. Fatigue, mood and surroundings are some of the factors that can affect the attentiveness of a person.
So if you are a doctor, nurse, dentist, or other medical students and specialist, always wear lab coats during your laboratory hours for a much improve alertness and performance as well. And what if the lab coats you are wearing have your name stitched using a digital embroidery service? Does it have more effect in the alertness of the bearer? This is another topic that will need research from the experts and hopefully they will have the urge to do it.
