How to Use CB Radios & Amplifiers

    • 1). Turn the On-Off/Volume knob counter clockwise to receive a signal for listening. The citizens band radio system is activated. Continue turning the knob to set the volume.

    • 2). Rotate the squelch knob clockwise until you receive an incoming signal. It may take a minute. Continue working the knob until the equipment is strong enough to stabilize the signal.

    • 3). Select a channel by using the channel knob. Have a list of the 40 channels on hand to use as a guide to help determine which channel to select. Note that channels 9 and 19 are not available for entertainment.

    • 4). Use both the squelch and the volume knobs to maintain a comfortable listening level. Also, use the knobs to control interfering signals.

    • 5). Depress the Press-to-Talk button on the microphone to talk or transmit a signal. Continue holding the button down to continue transmitting the signal.

    • 6). Hold the microphone about two inches from your mouth. Speak in brief, clear breaths. Refrain from using long pauses. Simply release the Press-to-Talk button when done speaking.

    • 7). Ensure that the amplifiers have been properly connected to the correct outlet of the CB radio system. Look for the sound output symbol. Before completing Step 5, turn the On-Off and volume knob on the amplifiers to increase the range of output.
