L.A.'s Own Luxury Jones
Cities all over the U.S. are holding their very own fashion weeks, and Los Angeles is no exception. As an Angeleno girl, I love to see what my local designers have to offer. I attended a few shows for Los Angeles Fashion Week this year at the picturesque Carondelet House in downtown L.A., and the dresses I spotted did not disappoint! Here are a few of my stand-out faves from the Spring/Summer 2013 shows.
They’re all dresses that would be perfect for a formal, sweet sixteen party or special night out with friends.
Here, petite model and blogger Hanna Beth Merjos models an ah-mazing laser-cut deep turquoise dress covered in glitter and sparkle by Luxury Jones. I love how the casual shape is glammed up with plenty of glitter and sparkle, making it comfy and chic at the same time.
Luxury Jones Loves Sparkle
I loved Luxury Jones' use of sheer fabric splashed with sparkle. The laser-cut hemline on this frock makes it super playful, and the sparkle patterns almost remind me of lightning bolts ready to strike!
Jen Awad Goes Mod
Jen Awad is one of my favorite Los Angeles designers, and always pulls out all the stops for her shows. Her Spring/Summer 2013 collection was heavy on the 60s and mod influences. Something about this dress reminds me of a modern Audrey Hepburn in “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.”
More Mod Awad
This Jen Awad dress is all about 60s mod and bows. The patterned heels really bring the look together, and the sunglasses are a nice touch.
Jen Awad's On The Fringe
Jen Awad rounded out her retro Spring/Summer 2013 runway show with this fringe-covered one-shoulder dress, which is an update on the timeless flapper dress. I love the asymmetrical hem, and the giant braid piled atop the model’s head is a nice touch.
Odylyne's 2013 Collections
Odylyne had some of the most gorgeous, Southern California-inspired pieces of all the presentations at the Carondelet House. Their Spring/Summer 2013 collection was full of sunset-colored prints, delicate whites and plenty of texture. This high-low dress was my absolute favorite of the two days.
Odylyne Perfects the Bohemian Vibe
This gorgeous floor-length Odylyne dress is a little bit bohemian, a little bit “native print.” I love the warm-weather colors and the tie back that exposes some skin.
Turn Heads in Odylyne's Red
Want to guarantee you’ll turn heads when you walk into a room? Wear a dress dripping in color that pops- like this fiery red number by Odylyne. I love the tiny side cut outs, and the micro-slit in front adds detail without being too revealing. The stack of gold bangles and oversize hoop earrings are the perfect accessories.
Luciana Salamone's Delicate Dresses
The petite Luciana Salamone models showed off a collection full of ivory, soft beige and white dresses that were so delicate and princess-worthy, they almost transported me back in time! The Spring/Summer 2013 Collection is for the demure girlie girl in all of us.
AGAIN Retro-Fits
Luciana Salamone’s stand-out piece was her finale dress, pictured here. I love how the comfortable fit is offset by the delicate fabric, headpiece and jewelry.
AGAIN's Lovely Long Sleeves
The L.A.-based collection AGAIN showed two pieces from their Spring/Summer 2013 collection that would make for a perfect special occasion dress. This textured yellow number is a little bit retro, a little bit preppy country club daughter.
AGAIN takes the long-sleeve dress trend and sweetly carries it over to spring and summer with this frock. I love the detailing on the high neck and at the hem and sleeves! The chunky wedges round out this look.
