About the Manga:
Nora debuted in the pages of Monthly Shonen Jump magazine in April 2004, and since went on to spawn a sequel series, SUREBREC: Nora the 2nd.
About the Author / Artist:
Nora was Kakei's first published series as a professional manga-ka. A resident of the Kansai area of Japan, Kakei is a Hanshin Tigers fan, who loves to eat, but hates to cook. He also enjoys sake, and draws himself as a character with a sake jug for a head.
Story Summary:
In the world of the demons, the Dark Liege rules over an army of supernatural soldiers -- but there's one unruly demon that she can't tame. Nora is a spiky-haired demon who's young and powerful, but also careless and unruly. When Nora pushes the Dark Liege's buttons one time too many, she sends him to the human world to learn some manners.
The Dark Liege enlists high school student Kazuma to rein in Nora. She explains that Nora can only use his powers when Kazuma gives him permission to do so. Kazuma soon finds that he'll need all of Nora's powers to defeat the rival demons who are out to capture and kill them both.
Main Characters:
Nora
Nora is a headstrong young demon with red and gold eyes and white spiky hair. As the latest incarnation of Cerebus the hellhound, Nora is one of the most powerful demons under the Dark Liege's command. However, Nora is cocky, careless and downright rude to his superiors. When he's sent to the human world to learn some manners, Nora is furious that his powers are restricted by Kazuma, his new human 'master.'
Kazuma Magari
With his good grades and his stern, no-nonsense style, Kazuma earns respect as the class president at his high school. But sometimes being smarter and cooler than your classmates can be kind of boring. So when the Dark Liege puts Kazuma in charge of Nora, Kazuma accepts the devil's challenge with barely a blink -- in fact, once he finds out that Nora is a hellhound, he treats his demon companion like an overgrown pet. But this bargain has its price, as tapping into Nora's powers starts to take a physical toll on Kazuma.
The Dark Liege
As the de-facto leader of a huge army of demons, the Dark Liege wields great power and responsibility. But beneath that demonic appearance, the Dark Liege is really a busty, flirtatious blonde who often complains that the stress of battling the rival demon Resistance is bad for her complexion.
Knell
By outward appearances, Knell is an average looking guy with the hots for the ladies. But that's just Knell's cover. He's really a member of the Resistance, the rebel group who are against the Dark Liege's rule of the demon world. Besides having his own demon familiar Asto, Knell can also wield demonic powers and deflect Nora's fire-based attacks.
Barik
With his fins and control over water magic, Barik is a natural in his role as Lieutenant General in the Demon Sovereign Army Naval Fleet. Arrogant and somewhat disdainful of humans, Barik is nevertheless aware that Nora has the potential to be a very, very powerful demon.
