- The Dish 322 has two TV outputs, labeled TV1 and TV2. The TV1 output connects to the television via a port located near the receiver. It is referred to as TV1. The TV2 output connects to a second television located in another room and is referred to as TV2. The front of the receiver has two power lights, one for each television. The green power light is for TV1 and the blue power light is for TV2.
- The receiver requires periodic updates from the satellite in order to function properly. The updates will not occur unless the receiver is turned off. The receiver is turned off when both the green and blue lights on the front of the receiver are off.
- Two remotes are included with the Dish 322. During installation, each remote is programmed to operate a specific television. The remotes have color-coded numbers on them to identify which television they control. The remote with a green number "1" controls TV1. The remote with the blue number "2" controls TV2. Remote 1 controls TV1 by transmitting a light beam that is picked up by the "eye" located on the front of the receiver. Remote 2 controls TV2 by transmitting a radio wave on a specific channel configured at the time of installation, and will penetrate walls, floors and furniture. The radio wave is picked up by a small antenna located on the back of the receiver. It is possible for close neighbors to inadvertently control their neighbor's receiver if their remote is on the same channel. If this happens, the remote's channel can be changed through the receiver's "Setup" menu. Refer to the User's Guide for instructions.
- The receiver allows a four digit personal identification (PIN) for security. Dish 322 users should set up a PIN to prevent unauthorized ordering of pay-per-view programs.
