- The main difference between the companies' products is packaging. Versa-Lok sells its five styles of block as units to make a wall. Each style of block can be used to build a wall of a certain maximum height and load, but within these ranges the blocks can be used to build a wall of any size. EP Henry sells their product as a wall system. Instead of buying individual blocks, you buy a wall size and get the amount of units and accessories to build a wall of that specified size.
- Determine whether you want to build a wall that is exactly 6 feet tall and four feet long, for example, or if you want the freedom to make it any size. EP Henry's 12 varieties of wall systems offer a homeowner working without a contractor or architect a more definite vision of what a final wall will look like. On the other hand, Versa-Lok's five styles of block can be used to create similar-looking walls, yet the build process is more open-ended and therefore, so is the final product.
- The one very different product that Versa-Lok offers that EP Henry doesn't is the Versa-Green block. The Versa-Green blocks are designed to create a hanging garden wall. Each block has a 6-inch plantable core for growing plants and a built-in groove to hold irrigation tubing for automatic watering.
- At this time, EP Henry has local distributors only in the states between New York and Virginia, so getting an EP Henry system delivered to California, for example, may require additional time and cost. Versa-Lok, however, has distributors nationwide.
