Waist Watcher's Diet

    History

    • Waist Watcher beverages began in 1998, the same year the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved sucralose and acesulfame potassium (ace-K) as artificial sweeteners. At the time, Waist Watcher was sweetening its drinks with aspartame. In 2000, Waist Watcher became one of the first diet, soft drink lines to reformulate its beverages with this new combination of artificial, no-calorie sweeteners, making its beverages beneficial for weight loss, and ultimately making sucralose and ace-K the most popular sweetener choices in the U.S.

    Ingredients

    • Sucralose is derived from sugar, however it isn't metabolized by the body, so sucralose and ace-K can be safely consumed by diabetics. Consumers report that the combination of these two artificial sweeteners produce a taste similar to a non-diet soda.

    Options

    • Waist Watcher beverages come in 20-ounce. and two-liter bottles and 12-ounce cans, and are available in black cherry, cherry cola, citrus frost, lemon-up, orange, raspberry ale and grape fruit flavors. There are chocolate and vanilla varieties available as well as root beer, ginger ale and caffeine-free colas.
