Air Vs. Hydraulic Motorcycle Lifts

    Air Lifts

    • Air powered lifts and lift tables can handle more weight than a simple hydraulic lift, but they are usually larger, and they require a compressed air source to work. These lifts work best in a shop setting, where compressed air is readily available and floor space is adequate.

    Hydraulic Lifts

    • Hydraulic lifts cannot handle the weight that an air lift can and require more manpower to operate. However, they are usually smaller, lighter weight and easily transport from place to place. They can be used almost anywhere, as they do not require compressed air.

    The Bottom Line

    • Both types of motorcycle lift perform admirably. Each is suited to a different environment and situation. If portability is desired or compressed air is not available, a hydraulic lift will best fit your needs. If compressed air is available and heavier road bikes need to be lifted, an air powered lift or table will better fulfill your needs.
