- If possible, invitations should be mailed four to eight weeks in advance. Sending them out sooner may be impractical for parents with hectic schedules. Invitations sent at the last minute may deter guest attendance based on time constraints or prior commitments.
- Parties held during holiday seasons should have invitations in the mail eight weeks in advance since social obligations are normally heavier during these periods. If the party date is chosen months in advance, send guests "Save the Date" notifications a few months prior to sending the invitations.
- When choosing the times for the beginning and end of a children's party, consider nap and meal times of the guests. For older kids, parties held between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. or 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. will not interfere with regular meal times. Toddlers with nap schedules enjoy parties held between 10 a.m and 11:30 a.m.
