Everywhere you hear or read something about a new fad diet and a lot of people wonder why they are so bad.
The media reveals news or advertisements that promise consumers quick results.
One such place you will find such diets is the internet, making claims that you can lose many pounds in a few days time.
What people don't realize is that this type of weight loss is almost always temporary, because it is basically water weight loss.
As soon as you stop the diet and your body rehydrates, the pounds will most likely come right back on.
To sum it up, many of these fad diets are not good to do over and over again, as they can lead to severe health problems and in some cases death.
All fad diets are not easily recognized as a crash diet, making claims that are extravagant, saying such things as they are the hottest hollywood diet around.
The companies that produce these diets will often make statements like this in order to get the general public to buy their product, but in the end the company has your money and you continue to struggle with your weight.
The few products that are on the market that are actually good weight loss plans, which are based on good nutritional guidelines, more than likely you could have gotten from your family physician for free, instead of paying out big bucks.
In most cases these fad or crash diets are so hard to follow through with most people give up after a few days or a week.
The truth about crash or "fad" diets 1.
Any diet that can promise you a "quick and easy" way to lose weight is most likely based on eating just one type of food.
While this may not sound like a bad thing, in reality you will not be receiving the benefits that a balanced diet provides.
In order to counteract the effects, they will probably suggest you begin taking supplements.
But unless you get the right kind, you will more then likely just wasting more money on supplements that you body cannot properly absorbed unless they are taken when you eat a meal that the diet has banned.
What will more likely happen is if you stick with the diet plan you might begin to develop nutritional deficiencies.
2.
Most of these "fad" diets are more likely to bore you to tears before you'll actually see any real results.
In order for them to keep getting your money they have to keep building up the hype about their diet plan using several different methods.
What this means to you is that their so called "diet plan" is designed to fail because as soon as you start their over restrictive plan, you will begin to crave something different.
It's only a matter of time before you fall off the wagon.
What makes it worse is the feelings of failure you put yourself through.
3.
Another danger these diets hide is the fact that they do not follow any guidelines set by the American Heart Association for the amount of fat a person should have in their diet.
Several plans suggest a low carb/high fatty foods plan, that if done over a long period of time, can contribute to heart disease.
They may attempt to mask that fact by warning that the diet is only suggested to be used for only a short period of time.
With that in mind, what happens when you do not reach the goal weight you were looking for? At that point you either stop the diet and watch the weight pile back on or you continue with a diet plan that can cause more health problems than it fixes.
4.
Several fad diet plans lack the needed daily servings of both fruits and vegetables to provide proper nutrition, or just a variety of foods for that matter.
5.
While they may promise that you'll get quick results, unless the plan provides you with the tools you need to make healthy and permanent eating habit changes.
Once you reach your final goal weight, unless you have adopted healthier eating habits you will be constantly locked in a cycle of both yo-yo and fad diets that will not only keep you from becoming healthier, but can in the long run ruin both your quality of life and your self esteem worse then being over weight would have.
No matter what flashy slogans they use, unbelievable promises or scientific facts they provide none of these types of diets will provide you with anything other then short term results and a hole in your pocket.
The best thing you can do for yourself is to eat a diet with less fats and calories, use moderation at all times, get involved in a exercise plan you feel good doing, and make more healthy lifestyle decisions.
These things will keep you away from fad diets and provide you with quality results and a better level of well being.
