- 1). Practice modeling in front of the mirror. Use two mirrors to view your complete profile. Make small changes to see how your profile is best displayed. Push your neck out, raise and lower your chin, and clench and relax your jaw to see what makes your profile look the most defined.
- 2). Contact photographers whose work inspires you and ask to set up a photo shoot. Depending on both your needs, this can either be a paid or TFP (Time for Print) photo shoot -- a portfolio-building shoot for model and photographer. Ask the photographer if he or she has any special lighting techniques to accentuate your profile.To bring out the best features, remember your practice in the mirror and use those same angles when shooting. Ask the photographer what he thinks would work best.
- 3). Select the best profile photos from the shoot and print them out to include in a modeling portfolio. A modeling portfolio is a book of a model's best images that allows her to advertise herself to clients and show her versatility. Also, consider making a composite card -- the main marketing tool for a model aside from the portfolio -- that includes several profile shots. Composite cards are 8-by-10-inch cards with a model's name, height and measurements; a head shot on one side; and three or four images displaying versatility on the other side. These cards are what agencies send out to clients to get models work.
- 4). Visit modeling agencies with composite cards and a portfolio that includes profile shots. Ask for a professional opinion on your potential to succeed within the niche of a profile model. Take the advice the agency representatives give you seriously, but do not let it deter you. Go to many agencies so you have a good idea of your potential for success as a profile model.
