The guitar is a beautiful instrument that anybody can learn fairly easily.
But it is only going to be easy if you are ready to give it your best shot, because when you are learning the guitar only your best will do.
Learning to play takes interest above all, because if you are not interested you would not have the required zeal to push forth in the learning process.
If you are not interested then you will be quick to give up, because learning the guitar and generally learning anything comes with its frustrations and if you do not have passion you will let these frustrations get the best of you.
·Don't teach yourself Some people have found that they would rather teach themselves, though I would not totally condemn this as impossible, because a handful of great guitarists claim to be self taught, but no doubt it is hard.
If you are trying to learn something yourself you are prone to error and there would not be anyone to correct you, I am not saying that it cannot be done, but it is challenging and frustrating.
If you have an option get a proficient and experienced guitar teacher to guide you through the early stages and when you feel you have a firm grasp, then you can move on to practice on your own and build on the foundation.
·Try to be specific with your goal Many people just claim "I want to be able to play the guitar," that is a goal that is too vague and if you continue with this mind set you are less likely to succeed.
You need to focus your mind to a more specific goal and you need to have something you want to be able to play, it will be a lot easier to train, and will make progress faster for you and make things less frustrating for your teacher.
·Do not get distracted It is very easy to get distracted when you are learning to play the guitar; distractions come through when you begin to focus on things that were not in your original long term goal.
It might be something profitable, but if it was not in your original plan then it is a big distraction.
If you continue to do this, it will pile up and you will be all over the place and never actually achieve anything.
This is another reason as to why having a teacher would be beneficial, you would have somebody to guide you and keep you on the right track.
