How to Replace Freon in the AC

    • 1). Disconnect the negative battery cable using a ratchet and socket. Connect the gauge hoses from the Freon recharging kit to your air conditioner's compressor, and then connect the short hose to the can of Freon.

    • 2). Purge the system by opening the Freon valve for a few seconds. Fasten the hose securely using a flathead screwdriver and close the valve.

    • 3). Start the engine and turn the air conditioner on high. Open the Freon valve very slowly and empty the can, while making sure to hold it level. Close the valve and remove the hose.

    • 4). Check to see if the air conditioner is blowing cold air. If not, repeat the previous process to add more Freon, but be careful not to add too much.
