What to Do in Disney Besides the Parks

You're heading to Walt Disney World, so of course you plan to hit the four major theme parks€"Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney's Hollywood Studios and Disney's Animal Kingdom€"and maybe even visit one of the two water parks there€"Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon. And you'll certainly have to schedule in some time to visit Downtown Disney for some shopping and yummy eats. But did you know there's much, much more to do outside the fun of the parks?

If you're staying at one of the Disney Resort Hotels, take some time to explore your options there. Most offer a variety of activities including fishing, boat rentals, bike rentals, carriage rides and poolside movies in the evening. And that's only the beginning! You should check with your resort to find out what activities are offered, but you can probably spend a whole day just having fun around your resort. In addition to that, you can €resort-hop€ and check out what some of the other Disney resorts have to offer. You're not allowed to use other resort swimming pools, but there are so many offerings, you won't miss it.

If you're a golfer, you won't want to miss your chance to play at one (or more!) of Disney's four championship golf courses. Arrangements can easily be made at your hotel. Or if putt-putt is more your speed, there are two themed mini golf courses that both offer 2-18 hole adventures€"Winter Summerland and Fantasia Gardens. And if sports is your thing, you won't want to miss the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex€"home to the Atlanta Braves spring training.

Feeling the need for speed? You can race around the Walt Disney World Speedway in a NASCAR stock car at 145 mph during the Richard Petty Driving Experience. There are lots of options for drivers, including the exotic driving experience where you can drive an exotic car like a Lamborghini or Ferrari.

Or, if you'd rather explore on two wheels instead, challenge yourself to the Wilderness Back Trail Segways Adventure at Fort Wilderness. And while you're there, you can mosey over to Tri Circle D Ranch to ride horses, ponies, or even schedule a wagon ride.

And if all that has you worn out, you'll definitely want to do some serious relaxing at one of the spas or health clubs. With treatments from full-body massages to facials and even pedicures for girls 4-12 years old, you'll find something for everyone to enjoy.

With all this fun awaiting, you may want to consider planning for an extra day, just to enjoy it all! And if you have an open day without a park pass, you won't be bored. You may wish you had more €down€ time, just to experience it all!
