WD40 Gun Cleaning

    • 1). Unload all bullets in the gun, according to the directions in the owner's manual. It is never safe to clean a gun containing bullets.

    • 2). Disassemble the gun according to the manufacturer's recommendations in the owner's manual. Do not disassemble the gun beyond the manufacturer's recommendations, as you could damage the gun.

    • 3). Spray a small amount of WD-40 onto a microfiber cloth.

    • 4). Begin cleaning the breech end of the gun, which is the end of the gun's barrel where cartridges are inserted. Properly cleaning the gun prevents pushing debris into the action. Wipe the saturated cloth over the gun's barrel.

    • 5). Spray three drops of WD-40 onto a gun-cleaning rod. Insert the cleaning rod into the gun's barrel.

    • 6). Pull the cleaning rod out of the gun's barrel. Spray a small amount of WD-40 onto the bolt, firing pin and trigger mechanism.

    • 7). Reassemble the gun, according to the manufacturer's recommendations in the owner's manual. Spray a couple drops of WD-40 onto the microfiber cloth.

    • 8). Wipe all exposed metal parts of the gun with the cloth for protection against rust. Store the gun in a safe area with low humidity.
