- 1). Mix 1/2 cup of TSP cleaner and 2 gallons of hot water in a bucket. Stir to combine the TSP completely. Dip a scrub brush in the mixture and scrub the tin surface thoroughly. Remove all traces of dirt and debris from the tin with the scrub brush.
- 2). Rinse the TSP soap from the tin with clear water and allow the metal to dry completely. Do not apply paint products until the tin dries thoroughly.
- 3). Pour primer into a paint tray and apply it with a paint roller. Because the nap of the paint roller is longer, the roller will effectively reach into the deep valleys of the corrugated tin. Continue working to apply the primer in a thin and even layer until you paint the entire surface.
- 4). Allow the primer to dry for the time recommended on the can. The primer may be dry and ready for a topcoat after only one hour, or the manufacturer may recommend a longer drying time.
- 5). Pour the topcoat paint into the paint tray and use a roller with the same nap to apply the topcoat. Cover the primer with a thin and even layer of paint. Allow the first coat to dry according to the recommended drying time on the paint can and apply a second coat, if you desire.
