- 1). Turn off the water to the faucet. There are two water shut off valves under the sink. Turn the handles of each valve clockwise to shut off the water.
- 2). Look for the small plastic or rubber cap under the curve of the faucet handle if you have a lever handle faucet. Pry the cover off with a utility knife, and remove the set screw securing the handle with an Allen wrench. Look for the cover on top of the handle if your Delta faucet uses the rotary handles. Remove the cover from the handle and remove the screw in the center of the handle with a Phillips-head screwdriver. Pull the handle away from the faucet.
- 3). Twist the decorative sleeve counterclockwise with your fingers; the sleeve is the portion between the base of the faucet and the handle. Remove the sleeve from the faucet. Turn the bonnet nut counterclockwise with an adjustable wrench' the bonnet nut is the large nut securing the faucet cartridge to the faucet.
- 4). Pull the faucet cartridge out of the faucet with your fingers. Insert the new Delta cartridge into the faucet. Thread the bonnet nut over the cartridge until the nut is hand tight. Turn the nut an additional 1/2 turn with the adjustable wrench.
- 5). Thread the decorative sleeve over the bonnet nut. Position the handle back into place and secure with the appropriate retaining screw, Push the cap back over the retaining screw. Turn handles of the shut-off valves counterclockwise to turn the water on to the Delta faucet.
