The Depressing Truth You Need to Know About Antidepressants

Many people who suffer from depression are often prescribed antidepressants, as well as mood leveling drugs.
There are however many different problems with these that are not always known or even explained by doctors.
Some of them have extremely negative side-effects, some that can be seen right away, but others that do not come up until later on in life.
Then there are other problems as well, including those that make the symptoms of depression worse, but also things like changes in behaviors, thoughts of suicide, which are mostly present in children under 18, which is why many can not even be taken by kids.
This is kind of contradictory, because many long term cases of depression start in adolescents.
There are many different kinds of antidepressants that are often used to treat depression.
The fact is, that many of these do not decrease symptoms of depression, and especially with kids, increase the symptoms dramatically, which is why the FDA requires warnings on the labels of medications.
Some of the antidepressant warning signs can and do include thoughts or attempts at suicide.
They can make your depression worse, as well as give you increased anxiety, aggression, as well as irritability.
You can get easily agitated, and restless, as well as have increased insomnia.
Some people even have changes in behavior, such as dangerous impulses, like thinking they can do no wrong.
These people may spend money they don't have, or participate in sexual behaviors that are promiscuous, or without protection.
Some of the more common side-effects of taking antidepressants for your depression include headaches, blurred vision, sleeping problems, dry mouth, drowsiness, as well as gastrointestinal problems like abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, or constipation.
Another major and common side-effect of these medications is problems of a sexual nature.
These may include a decrease in libido, the inability to get or maintain an erection, and for women a great decrease in sensitivity, and the inability to achieve an orgasm, taking away the last bit of pleasure someone with depression may still have.
There are also some major side-effects of depression antidepressants that are long term, and some people do not even realize this until it is too late.
Many people suffer from bone density loss, which is especially hazardous to women.
Other problems include liver and kidney damage, and even an increased risk of cardiovascular problems, like heart attack or stroke.
There are many stomach problems that can develop, including ulcers, and an increase of acid reflux disease, which can cause all kinds of problems to the esophagus.
There are many other things to consider as well before taking antidepressants for treating depression.
One of them is new studies have shown that many of these drugs are no better than taking a placebo, and findings in the February issue of PLoS Medicine said that researchers discovered that on the whole, only a small group of even the most severe depression patients benefited from taking some antidepressant medication.
Sure some of these antidepressants for depression stabilize moods, but the problem with many of these is not only are you not depressed, but you do not feel anything anymore.
You no longer are able to feel any happiness, sadness, and a state of lethargy begins to kick in, where you do not care about anyone, or anything.
Not only is this bad for you, but just think about what it can do to your loved ones, and your friends, people who depend on you? Then there are also other problems.
One of them is that your body will develop a resilience to these antidepressants, and you will have to take a higher and higher dosage in order to get the same effects, increasing side-effects and complications.
These medications for treating depression are highly addictive, and can even be compared to heroine use, and have just as bad withdrawal symptoms.
Luckily, you do not have to treat your depression with these antidepressant medications, and in fact there are many natural remedies that treat this illness not only quite well, but without the side-effects, addictions or withdrawal symptoms.
Many of these you don't even have to buy, and sometimes just changing your diet, or behavioral patterns can do the trick.
You can look these up online, and there are other remedies that will give you a number of different ways you can treat your depression naturally.
