Rafe asks for the name and number of the teen center so he can call them up and find out more information about Mia. Nicole refuses, stating that it’s confidential. She assumes that Rafe suspects what happened to Grace was Mia’s fault, then implores him to have a discussion with the doctor. Rafe says he’s going to tell her the real reason why he’s there.
Nicole wonders how many ulterior motives Rafe had for coming over there.
Rafe needs to talk to her about the custody hearing. Nicole says it’s for the lawyers to handle. Rafe cautions that what Nicole says about Sami in court could make the difference between Sami getting joint custody of her son and never seeing her son again. “What if someone were trying to do that with Sydney? Take her away from you?” questions Rafe. Nicole refers to it as a hypothetical situation that’s never going to happen, and isn’t comfortable discussing the custody battle. After Rafe leaves, Nicole notes that Rafe’s asking too many questions and begins to fear what will happen if he finds out what she did.
Brady Pub
Carlo, the Kiriakis bodyguard, meets Philip, who commends him on a good job. Philip excuses himself to join Lucas, who asks what’s going on. He reminds Lucas that he and Steph are planning their wedding and wants Lucas to be his best man. “Sorry bro. There’s just no way in hell,” responds Lucas. Philip is surprised by his response. Lucas clarifies that it’s about Victor, who treats his wife like scum.
He thanks Philip and assures him that he and Chloe will be there, but he can’t stand up at the altar with his bro.
Lucas rehashes how Victor called Chloe the “village slut” last time there were together. Philip can understand why Lucas doesn’t want to do the best man thing, but he has to make sure Stephanie is happy. Lucas remarks how Philip treats Steph like royalty. Philip rehashes how Steph went through a lot and nearly died. Lucas suggests that Steph should see a specialist. Philip says he suggested that already, but Steph claims that she’s fine. He wishes Steph would open up to him. Lucas advises him to be patient, believing she’ll come around.
University Hospital
Maggie encounters Kate at the hospital and enthuses about Lucas and Chloe’s new house. She asks for ideas on a housewarming gift. Kate compliments Maggie on her fabulous taste and believes Lucas and Chloe will like anything she sends them. She shares how she got them some silverware, then asks Daniel what he’s getting Lucas and Chloe for a housewarming gift. Daniel doesn’t know yet, as he just found out today that they moved into their new house. Kate excuses herself to take a call. Maggie assumes it must be difficult for Daniel, talking about Lucas and Chloe all the time.
Nurse Maxine later informs Daniel that a patient won’t take her meds. She implies how she told the patient that a handsome doctor with the warm bedside manner would be in to talk to her. She then wonders what in the world he’s doing buying candy dishes online. Daniel says it’s a housewarming gift. Maxine suggests fruit. “Nothing says impersonal like a big basket of apples,” she declares.
Daniel later orders a fruit basket on the phone as Kate eavesdrops nearby. He asks if the recipient can deliver it today, then hangs up. Scheming Kate says he’s making this way too easy for her.
Back at the Kiriakis Mansion
Steph is about to pop a pill when Chloe arrives to pick up something for Lucas. Steph offers her coffee, but Chloe says she’s fine and asks how she’s feeling. Steph snaps at Chloe, reiterating that she’s fine and wondering why everyone keeps asking her that. She soon apologizes to Chloe and doesn’t know why she reacted that way. Chloe assures her that it’s okay, recalling how she used to get tired of people asking her the same thing all the time when she was sick. She knows someone who would be a really big help, if and when Steph decides to talk to someone. Steph thanks Chloe, but says she already has a therapist. Chloe praises the person she knows, referring to him as amazing. Steph decides to take her up on it and asks what his name is.
Nathan and Melanie
Nathan comes to the pier and encounters Melanie. He apologizes for being wrong about her and reveals that he knows what really went down with her and Nick. She wonders why he’s apologizing, surmising that he wants something. He insists that he’s being sincere, admitting that she didn’t deserve to be treated that way. She forgives him for being a jerk. He needs to ask her a personal question.
Melanie jokingly tells him that if he wants to know her bra size, it’s a little early in their relationship for that. He asks what kind of pills she’s taking, revealing that he saw her putting them in her bag. She confirms that they belong to her friend, who left them at the hospital. She shares how her friend (Steph) lives with her fiancé, but she doesn’t want him to know she’s taking them. Nathan refers to this as a bad idea.
Elsewhere
Lucas and Chloe later meet at the Java Café, and she presents him with a photo album. Lucas reveals that his dad gave it to him when he visited Bill in Africa. He marvels how amazing it is, especially since he thought it was torched in the Kiriakis fire a few years ago. He is in awe of the photos, assuming that Alice must’ve put the album together, recalling how the album was his welcome to the family. Chloe wanted to give it to him for new memories, especially in case any new children came along. Lucas lights up, and Chloe confirms that she’s not pregnant, but she thought it might be a nice gift for family memories. Lucas expresses how he’s the luckiest guy on the planet and wonders what he did to deserve her, then kisses her.
Melanie later comes to the pub and joins Philip, asking if he believes in coincidences. He says not really, and she states that she needs to talk to him about something.
Stephanie comes to see Father Matt at St. Luke’s. He greets her and understands that her parents are in Africa, which she confirms. She reveals that she was talking to Chloe Horton, who recommended him. He assumes that she needs help.
