How to Fix the Wire on Invisible Fence Systems

    • 1). Turn off the electric fence and unplug the transmission box.

    • 2). Remove any earth around the wire break, clearing at least one foot of each wire end for easy access. Wipe any mud or dirt from the wires.

    • 3). Tie the ends of the extra boundary wire to the broken wire ends with square knots. Doing so prevents future strain on the fence wire from pulling apart the splices about to be performed.

    • 4). Strip the ends of all four wire tips with a pair of wire strippers. Only a ½-inch strip of the sheath is needed on each wire.

    • 5). Hold one of the original wire ends next the nearest extra boundary wire end. Insert both ends into a wire nut. Twist the wire nut clockwise to lock the wires together.

    • 6). Hold the other original wire end next to the other extra boundary wire end. Insert both ends into a wire nut. Twist the wire nut clockwise to lock the wires together.

    • 7). Insert each wire nut into a waterproof splice tube, which are filled with waterproof synthetic grease. Make sure to push the wire nut as far as it will go.

    • 8). Bury the waterproof splice tubes and boundary wire in the ground at the same level the rest of the fence. Cover with dirt and apply weight to the area through your feet for a solid seal.

    • 9). Plug in the transmission box and turn on the fence to see if the repairs worked.
