- 1). Check with airline miles points program to see what you qualify for. If you have points directly for the airlines, adjust your travel dates to try for the lowest ticket, usually around 25,000 miles. If you have miles from a credit card, in some cases you can get an even better deal as their points may correlate to cash equivalent tickets.
- 2). Be sure to search for and on Tuesdays. Airlines tend to update ticket prices on Tuedays so in most cases this is when ticket prices go down. Credit card miles can generally be used on any airline, so also check charter companies for less expensive tickets.
- 3). Finally look for airline booking discounts with coupon codes or rebate programs and credit card cash back bonuses. Some cards and rebate programs offer up to 5% cash back when booking with them.
