- 1). Locate a Little Mermaid pumpkin stencil. These are available online at playsational.com. Print the stencil and set it aside.
- 2). Choose a pumpkin that is slightly larger than the stencil. Get one with a sturdy stem and with a relatively flawless face. Place the pumpkin on spread newspapers.
- 3). Use a pencil to draw a line around the top of the pumpkin, about two inches from the stem. With a sharp knife, cut along the line. Use the blade of the knife to pry the top open, creating a lid.
- 4). Use the scoop and your hands to remove all guts and seeds from the inside of the pumpkin. The scoop can also be used to scrape the walls of the pumpkin to thin them out, making carving easier. Make sure to remove all stringy bits.
- 5). Tape the stencil to the face of the pumpkin. Use the poker tool to poke holes along the lines. When complete remove the stencil.
- 6). Saw along the lines of dots. Use the large saw for big areas and the smaller ones for detailed work. When complete, place two tealight candles inside the pumpkin.
