- 1). Open Photoshop. Then open a new document by going to File and clicking "New." For the purposes of this article, make the document 500 by 500 pixels, with a resolution of 72 pixels/inch.
- 2). Go to the bottom of the Toolbar, and change the "Foreground" color to a dark blue, and the "Background" color to a light blue. Go to the bottom of the Layer panel and click on the "New Layer" icon.
- 3). Use the "Paint Bucket" to fill the background layer with the light blue. Then select the dark blue "Foreground "color. Now select the "Gradient" tool, and in the tool options at the top choose "Foreground to Transparent." Drag the tool from left the right over the canvas.
- 4). Go to the Layers panel, hold down the "CTRL" key, and click on the little image next to the top layer. Hit "Q" on the keyboard to go into "Quickmask" mode. Then go to 'Pixelate" and make the "Radius" whatever size you want your halftone dots to be. In this image, use 10.
- 5). Hit "Q" again. The mask turns into a selection. Then go to Select and click "Inverse." Select the Paint Bucket tool and fill the selection.
