- 1). Gather your tax information together. This information includes copies of W2s or W9s, property tax information, income tax information for your state or federal income tax information, employment information, and information about any other type of funds you have received during the year.
- 2). Go to the IRS site listed in the References section.
- 3). Choose "E-File" and click on the link to open up the electronic version of your federal tax return.
- 4). Fill out your taxes using your information. Depending on what type of employment you had, you'll need to fill out a W2 or a W9. You might also need to fill out different tax forms, such as employment taxes, business taxes, property taxes, or income taxes. If you aren't sure what your tax return entails, (these differ from person to person and location to location) read the Information page listed in references to learn more about tax returns.
- 5). Choose "E-File" to send your taxes online.
- 6). Choose "Direct Deposit" as your method of recovering your tax refund. Enter your bank account information so the refund can be direct deposited into your account.
