- Card games are a popular type of game for teaching language and social studies. Flash cards have been used for a long time to teach words and concepts to students. These games are relatively simple in concept. After a student has been given a series of vocabulary words, the teacher or parent shows them cards with images on the front and asks them to say what word(s) describe the image. These games are very helpful as homework assignments in vocabulary-rich subjects, particularly for younger children.
