How to Plant Teff

    • 1). Till the land well where you want to plant the teff. Remove any large rocks and weeds from the soil. Add 3 to 4 inches of compost to the soil and work it in to a depth of 6 to 8 inches.

    • 2). Roll over the land with a roller to make the seedbed firm for the teff.

    • 3). Place 4 to 5 lbs. of teff per acre into the seeder. Run the seeder over the land starting at one end and going back and forth until all the teff seed is sprinkled over the land. Plant the teff when the temperature is 70 degrees Fahrenheit or above.

    • 4). Sprinkle 1/8 to ¼ inch of soil over the teff. Do not plant any deeper or the teff might not emerge.

    • 5). Water the teff well for five minutes after planting. Keep the soil moist until the seedlings emerge.
