Well, this here might be a simple guide to help you out Did it ever happen to you that you eagerly needed to find something and simply did not find it? Did it ever happen to you that you badly needed the brown belt and it simply had disappeared PLUS you were already late? Weren't you sure to have put a book on the table and it simply had disappeared? Well, believe me, you are not alone.
All of us happen in the midst of these nerve-racking situations.
But there are 5 easy steps I want to share with you that can immediately help you to diminish to a minimum the chaos and disorder that sometimes might overwhelm your good mood: 1.
START "HEALING" WHERE IT "HURTS" MOST: are you always in trouble with your stockings that are all around the place but never in the drawer they should be in: take half an hour on the next weekend, even next free evening, get your drawer with socks organized and believe me: you will feel so good afterwards! You will be motivated to do this for all your "trouble areas" and even though you eventually you will not order them, you will know each time that you see a sock that you know how you can avoid this and you will have already tried and verified that it does not take a long time to clear things up! 2.
START AT THE ENTRANCE and it will feel great not to virtually fall into your home because there is for instance the sports bag from last night awaiting you.
Each day or week, take a meter more to clean up and order it.
You will see how family and friends realize and respect, adore and admire...
and you will say: oh, no big deal, I just do a meter a day! 3.
CLEAR AND MUCK IT OUT: whenever you have something in your hands and you are not sure if out really need it, throw it away or put it in a box for the next charity event.
Don't start thinking "...
but what if next year, well I could,...
" This is exactly the way that we fill 70% of our home with...
small things that we happen to buy, to receive, to have since we were small, etc and believe me WE NEVER USE THEM! 4.
THE CORNER STRATEGY: if you think that one cupboard, a drawer or even an entire room is cleared up as you have desired since a long time...
go back the next day and check if it still is so.
If not, you eventually need to pass back with step 3 and clear out some more things that make you arrive to what you really want to be in place, to grab for as soon as you need it! 5.
"A METER A DAY KEEPS THE CHAOS AWAY": make a small plan, with little steps in it.
If you need to tidy up and organize your cupboard and drawers, count the drawers and make one a day, max 5 a week.
If you need to organize photos than do them by trip or event and take your time to watch the photos as well.
This alleviates the process and motivates you to o on.
Take a room every two weeks to do a special chaos check and you will be in time to avoid complete disorder, chaos and frustration! It might take time if you have quite a lot of disorder around, but once you have done the effort to get the things organized you will see how great it is, how easy it is to follow and how much time you can save.
And if you already have quite a good order in your home, well then, first of all CONGRATULATIONS! The five above will help you to keep it up and eventually fine tune your personal chaos strategies a bit.
