After you have made a beautiful DIY Valentine's Day cards you will need an envelope to package up your card. Make your own custom romantic card that is sealed with two hearts tied together with a decorative piece of string.
Materials:
- 2 sheets of cardstock in red and pink
- Envelope template
- Red twine
- Double sided foam stickers
- Scissors
- Ruler
- Bone Folder (optional)
- Glue or double sided tape/sticker (also called mounting tape)
- Pencil
How To Make A DIY Hearts Tied Together Envelope:
1. Download an envelope template that will match your card.
- Envelope template for a 4 x 6" card
- Envelope template for a 4 x 4" card
- Envelope template for a 4 x 5" card
- Envelope template for a 5 x 7" card
- Envelope template for a 5 x 8" card
2. Print the envelope template onto a sheet of pink cardstock and cut out the envelope from the piece of cardstock. To get crisp folds score the fold lines by placing a ruler where the fold should be and run a bone folder to create a sharp fold line. If you lack a bond folder you can create a score line by lightly running the tip of the scissors along the ruler.
3. Use glue or double sided tape to assemble the envelope as directed on the template you are using.
4. On the red cardstock draw with a pencil a heart that is about 3/4" wide. Cut out the heart and trace the heart on the same sheet of red cardstock so that you have two matching hearts. Note: it is possible to alter the size of the hearts, but the hearts need to be slightly larger than the double sided foam stickers that you are using.
5. Stick a double sided foam sticker on each cut heart and adhere the hearts onto the top flap of the envelope and slightly lower on the bottom panel of the envelope so that they are rather close together. Position the hearts so that the top heart is right side up, while the bottom heart should be upside down so that in the middle the two bottom points of the hearts should touch or point towards each other.
6. Cut a 3 inch piece of red or pink decorative twine and wrap it around the two hearts to seal the envelope shut. To open the envelope unwrap the piece of twine around both hearts.
