Three Key Tips to Writing Persuasive Essays

If you ever handed an assignment that wasn't a purely research-based essay, you know that you're going to have to take a position given their specific question, and articulate convincingly.
Otherwise known as persuasive essays, these types of essays tend to give people the most trouble.
And certainly not because they don't understand the main issue or even that they don't have an opinion.
Rather, it is their ability to take their thoughts and research and organized them coherently within the body of the paper that becomes an issue.
Similarly, this does not mean that they are not good writers either.
But it can be hard for some to write a convincing argument throughout the length of the paper and then end up with a compelling conclusion.
There are always a few tips that you can use when you're writing persuasive essays to ensure that you write the best ones possible.
One tip to consider is the fact that although persuasive essays are centered around a particular event or debate that you need to form your own opinion on, they still require a high level of research.
After all, if you are going to pursue a particular line of reasoning then you need to be able to back up what you say in the body of the paper with solid research and data.
Something else to consider is that you will be editing and revising far more than you would with a normal essay.
This because persuasive essays require you to not only look for basic errors such as spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
They also require you to look for gaps or errors with in the logic of your various arguments and points that you've laid out.
This can take a lot more time than you think and as such, one tip here is to ensure that you give yourself more than enough time for this endeavor.
This is of vital importance because if you turn in a paper that has gaps in logic and is riddled with errors, no matter how convincing your argument may be, you will still be turning in shoddy work and you don't want that all.
One final tip when it comes to writing persuasive essays is to understand that you're not necessarily looking for the definitive answer to your particular topic.
Instead, what you're looking to do is at the very least have the reader, way with a new appreciation for your argument and engender discussion and new thoughts.
