How to Find the Date on an HP LaserJet Print Cartridge Box

    • 1). Turn the box over and look on the short side. Look for a code that starts with a number and then a letter.

    • 2). Check the first digit in the code. This is the year of manufacture. So a cartridge manufactured in 2009 would have a 9 as the first digit.

    • 3). Look at the second digit of the date code. This is the month of manufacture, but it is expressed as a letter and not a number. For instance, the letter A means the toner cartridge was manufactured in January, while a B indicates a February manufacturing date.

    • 4). Check the next two digits of the code. These digits are the date the toner was manufactured. For instance, a toner with a code of 9B25 was manufactured on February 25, 2009.
