More About What Not to Say
A family member who is about to become a grandmother told me she had been reading my site. "So much about what not to do and what not to say!" she commented.
I hate to think that my site has a negative vibe, but I do think it's my duty to warn grandparents-to-be that the job comes with a few pitfalls. Every time I write one of my What-Not-to-Say pieces, I get feedback from others saying, "I hated it when people said that!" Most of those responding are parents, but some are grandparents remembering something that happened years ago.
So I know that some of the things that people say in all innocence can be irritating and even hurtful.
It's important to see things from the parents' point of view, even if they are just on their way to being parents. That's the philosophy behind this piece: What Not to Say to Expectant Mothers. Did I leave anything out? Leave a comment below.
