- 1). Turn off the grill but pour enough water or club soda to cover the grill while it is still hot. The water or club soda will bubble up and help remove grease and debris without scraping.
- 2). Use a stiff, metal spatula to scrape the cooked-on debris off the grill. This is deglazing the grill, just as you would a pan for a sauce.
- 3). Use a griddle or grill brick, a brick made of lava stone, to scrub down the grill. Check with the manufacturer's instructions before using a grill brick. Some recommend it and some do not. Wipe the grease and debris off the grill surface with a rag.
- 4). Pour a couple of tablespoons of vegetable oil over the surface of the grill. Use a paper towel to rub the oil over the grill. Adding the oil helps keep the grill seasoned.
- 5). Cover the grill with a clean towel or pans after cleaning to keep other grease and dust from accumulating.
- 6). Repeat this process after each use and the grill will stay clean.
